Come for Camp. Leave With a New Camp Family.
Camp is where Sina and Laura first met. Sina specializes in creating and cultivating unforgettable camp experiences. Laura founded and runs a nonprofit, You’re Just My Type, dedicated to the emotional well-being of people living with type 1 diabetes. Together, they realized that as adults with type 1 diabetes, there wasn't a space that truly captured the fun, warmth, and feeling of camp they both missed. They wanted to create a place where adults could laugh, recharge, and make the kinds of friendships that usually only happen at camp.
Camp Diabetes is a one-of-a-kind retreat for adults living with type 1 diabetes, founded by friends and former campers who know what makes camp truly magical. It's summer camp with all the nostalgia, energy, and traditions that shaped them growing up, with a few adult twists to sweeten the pot (sugar-free, of course!). Add diabetes to the mix, and you instantly create relationships that are stronger than their Dexcom readings. Nestled among Montana's mountains, lakes, and wide-open skies, Camp Diabetes is a place where friendships spark, stories are shared, and the magic of camp comes alive again.

Founder, Camp DirectorSina Jurado
Sina was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1996 at five years old. Two years later, she found a second home at diabetes camp.
Year after year, she returned, never missing a summer. Over time, she stepped into different roles and leadership along the way.
Camp was never only a place for Sina. It was where she felt most like herself. It was where she felt whole.
Surrounded by others who truly understood life with type 1 diabetes, she experienced a kind of joy and belonging that settled deep in her heart.
Camp showed her what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself. It showed her how serving others creates real change, and how powerful it feels when people understand each other without needing to explain.
It’s where she met her closest friends and learned that bonds formed through shared experience can become stronger than blood. Camp shaped the way she loves people, cares for community, and shows up in the world.
After moving to Montana, Sina hasn’t been back to camp in two years. That absence only strengthened her calling.
She now hopes to create a space where adults living with type 1 diabetes experience the same sense of connection, support, and belonging.
For those who never had camp growing up, and for those longing to feel that magic again, this camp is meant to feel like coming home.
Co-FounderLaura Pavlakovich
Laura was (also) diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 5 and somehow still gets excited when she meets another type 1 in the wild.
Growing up, she thought diabetes was something you managed quietly. The only place that felt different was diabetes camp, where nobody needed an explanation for why your blood sugar was 42, 400, or both in the same day.
Years later, she realized the thing she missed most wasn't camp itself. It was being around people who understood.
That's what led her to create You're Just My Type, a non profit built around the idea that people with type 1 diabetes deserve more than medical care. They deserve connection, friendship, support, and spaces where they can be completely honest about life with this disease.
These days, Laura spends her time bringing people together, hosting in person events across North America, and proving that community might be one of the most underrated diabetes interventions out there.
